Did you know that the UK has broken new records when it comes to solar panels?

According to Energy Live News, a total of 138,336 solar photovoltaic installations have been registered since December, which means they’ve surpassed the 137,926 recorded throughout the previous year.

Although there’s a lot more work to be done, we’re finally showing significant progress in the transition to green energy. 2023 is now the most successful year in Britain’s history for solar installations on the roofs of homes and businesses. That’s despite the fact the Government has recently pushed back the timeline for meeting net zero.

Save (and make) money by transitioning to solar energy.

One thing that’s driving this change is the rise in the cost of energy bills. Power from the grid not only remains expensive but solar panels even enable you to make money. Following the end of the FiT scheme in 2019, the government introduced the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). This scheme means that energy suppliers pay customers for the excess electricity they export to the grid. You will be paid different rates depending on the supplier.

Although you need to pay for the panels and installation, you’ll quickly make big savings as the year go by.

Although the Government has recently postponed many aims related to net zero, more people are making the decision to go green. Britain has even hit a clean energy milestone this year, with one trillion kWh of electricity generated from renewable electricity. Just to put this in perspective, it’s taken us fifty years to hit this target!

Another thing that encourages people to use solar energy is PV panels are falling in price.

Help to protect the planet.

Along with concerns about energy bills, more people are aware of climate change. However, making the transition to green energy means we must have the right infrastructure in place. Having solar panels fitted is one of the best places to start.

Some regions are more suitable for solar panel installations than others. For instance, the south tends to receive more sunlight compared to the north. Nonetheless, solar panel efficiency has improved over the years. This means we enjoy better energy generation even in less sunny regions. Newer panels can generate electricity on cloudy days and during the winter months.

Jem Energy works with homeowners across the UK who want to install solar PV panels to their property.

Solar panels are one of the best investments you can make for the future. As MCS approved installers, you can be assured that we always install solar panels to the finest standards.

From providing advice on the suitability of solar panels for your property, to the actual installation and after-care, we cover all aspects of the process.

We can install both solar panels and batteries for storing energy.

Many homeowners and businesses in the UK are pairing their solar panels with battery storage. This enables you to store excess electricity generated during the day for use during the night or on cloudy days.

Our highly knowledgeable team is always happy to offer advice on what solar energy is suitable for your property.
